About David


Councilman Blewett was honored to represent District 14 in 2019-2021, the community that he and his family call home. 

David Blewett was elected to the Dallas City Council in June of 2019 to represent District 14. He is dedicated to improving the lives of all Dallas residents by focusing on mobility, economic and neighborhood vitality, and public safety. 

David Blewett served on five City Council Committees:

  • Vice-Chairman of Economic Development

  • Public Safety 

  • Quality of Life

  • Ad Hoc Covid Recovery

  • Ad Hoc Judicial

He is a 35-year resident of the District, and has lived in a variety of our neighborhoods.

From The Village Apartments and the Knox-Henderson area in the 1990's, to Greenland Hills (the M-Streets) and then to Lakewood Heights in East Dallas today…he has lived through the remarkable changes that have occurred in Dallas and understands our history as we carefully plan our future.

David attended Southern Methodist University on a Football scholarship graduating with Business and Philosophy degrees in 1989. He was transferred to Detroit, Michigan and while working, graduated with an MBA in Finance at Wayne State University in 1993.

In 1994, he returned to Dallas to work for a National Mortgage Bank where he trained real estate professionals on the Community Reinvestment Act and various other government programs.  In 1998, he left to start his own Real Estate finance company. Today, David owns and operates a flooring distribution company, Atlas Floor Supply, which sells flooring products in the North Texas area to builders, flooring stores, flooring installers, and other flooring professionals.

He has seven children who have all attended Dallas ISD schools. He has been an active volunteer in his neighborhood associations as well as various groups dedicated to improving public schools. 

  • Former Crime Watch Chair for Lakewood Heights 

  • Former Crime Watch Board Member for Greenland Hills

  • Appointed by Dallas City Council to represent the M-Streets during the development and management of the permitting process for the St. Patrick's Day events on Greenville Avenue

  • Helped enact the Conservation District for the M-Streets to better preserve our historic homes

  • SBDM Committee Member for Mockingbird Elementary
